Dr. Anthony J. Woodruff was born and raised in Arkansas where he attended Harding University graduating Magna Cum Laud with a B.S. in Biology. He then attended the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences earning his Medical Doctorate. For his post-graduate training he completed a surgical Internship at Louisiana State University and Oschner Medical Center. Following completion of Internship, Dr. Woodruff completed his urologic Residency at both Louisiana State University and Oschner Medical Center with a portion of his training occurring at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas as a result of necessary evacuation from Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
Upon completion of his Residency, Dr. Woodruff completed a Robotic/Minimally Invasive Urologic Oncology Fellowship at the prestigious Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, Washington. This Fellowship had a special focus on treatment of all kinds of urologic malignancies including prostate, bladder, kidney, penile, and testicular cancers utilizing the most up to date minimally invasive techniques available.
After finishing Fellowship, Dr. Woodruff moved to Northwest Arkansas where he practiced until 2012 serving as Director of Robotic Surgery at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale, Arkansas. Dr. Woodruff subsequently moved to Arizona and joined Arizona Urologic Specialists in 2013 serving the Valley with excellent care in all facets of urology since that time.
Dr. Woodruff currently holds memberships and is actively involved in many urological organizations including the American Urologic Association, the Arizona State Urologic Society, of which his is Immediate Past President, the Society of Urologic Oncology, the Phoenix Urologic Society, the Western Section of the American Urologic Association, and others. Dr. Woodruff is certified by the American Board of Urology.
Dr. Woodruff’s research has been published in peer reviewed scientific journals, and he has presented his research and lectured at scientific meetings and conventions across the country.
Dr. Woodruff is trained in a variety of surgical techniques including robotic, laparoscopic, and endoscopic surgery. He provides services across all urologic subspecialties. While his practice provides treatment for all aspects urologic diseases, he carries significant personal passion and research interest in urinary stone disease, urologic cancers of all kinds, BPH, voiding dysfunction, erectile dysfunction, male infertility, performing vasectomies for male contraception, erectile dysfunction, and female urology.
Dr. Woodruff is a devoted husband and proud father of four wonderful children. When he is not engaged in urology, he can likely be found spending time with his children at a myriad of school functions, dance recitals, sporting events, skiing, or playing golf.
